Miner Safety & Health Act of 2010 (H.R. 5663) Introduced; Hearing scheduled for July 13th

[tweetmeme]In what will undoubtedly already be a busy summer and fall agenda House Democrats introduced the Miner Safety and Health Act of 2010 (H.R. 5663) yesterday, which contains major reforms in response to health and safety concerns by workers and their families since the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster that killed 29 miners and other mining-related workplace deaths.

The House Committee on Education and Labor will hold a full hearing on July 13, 2010 for  H.R. 5663, “Miner Safety and Health Act of 2010.”   The Hearing is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in room 2175 Rayburn HOB.  Witnesses to be announced.

It is also being speculated by some that the Protecting America’s Workers Act (H.R. 2067) will be rolled into the Miner Safety and Health Act in order to help passage of key components contained within PAWA.  Aaron Trippler with Government Affairs Department of AIHA reported on this issue yesterday as well.
